RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SERVICE OF
THE LATE U.S. CONGRESSMAN MICKEY LELAND
IN HIS EFFORTS TO ELIMINATE STARVATION
IN THE WORLD.
WHEREAS, it is to be remembered that one
individual with noble vision can make a difference in
helping mankind; and
WHEREAS, nowhere is that adage better
exemplified than in the life of the late U.S.
Congressman Mickey Leland; and
WHEREAS, his concern for the starving, most
particularly the Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia, has
awakened the conscience of the world to this massive
problem; and
WHEREAS, his untimely death occurred while in
the pursuit of his mission to assist these unfortunate
masses of starving people,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The City Council of Wichita Falls, Texas highly
commends the unselfish dedication of Rep. Mickey Leland
in his efforts to rid the world of starvation; and,
Be it further resolved that our condolences to
his family be accompanied by our pride and gratitude
for Rep. Leland' s achievements and concern for his
fellow man.
