RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONGRESS TO PASS
LEGISLATION TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN
FLAG FROM DESECRATION
WHEREAS, the American flag is a symbol of the liberties
that we, as free Americans, enjoy, and
WHEREAS, the American flag has led many brave young men
and women into battle to fight for the freedoms in which we
believe, and
WHEREAS, to desecrate the American flag is to demean
the many men and women who have given their lives for our
country, and to blaspheme the country in which we live,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
We do beseach the Congress for legislation to protect
the flag, symbol of our nation, from acts which allow abuse.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 6th day of July, 1989.
