ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-50, SUBSECTION (D)
AND SECTION 14-51 , SUBSECTION (E) OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES TO REQUIRE A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
IN ADDITION TO EXISTING REQUIREMENTS BEFORE
ELECTRICITY IS CONNECTED; PERMITTING EIGHT (8)
CURRENT CONSUMING OUTLETS TO BE WIRED ON ONE (1)
CIRCUIT; ADJUSTING WATTAGE PER CIRCUIT ALLOWED
FOR FLUORESCENT AND H.I .D. FIXTURES; PROVIDING
MAXIMUM WATTAGE PER CIRCUIT FOR RECESSED FIXTURES .
WHEREAS, the Electrical Advisory Board has recommended that
the Electrical Code of the City of Wichita Falls be amended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 14-50 (D) shall be amended to read as follows:
" (D) Wiring to be completed before service connected:
Buildings, dwellings, and premises shall be wholly and completely
wired, equipped and approved for permanent electrical service, and
a certificate of occupancy shall have been issued by the building
inspector before said buildings, dwellings or premises shall be
connected to or supplied by a source or supply of electricity.
Temporary connection to a permanent service installation may be
made by proper application to the office of the electrical inspector. "
Section 14-51 (E) (2) shall be amended to read as follows :
" (E) Circuits;
(2) Limitation of outlets;
Not more than eight (8) current consuming outlets shall be
wired on any one circuit. Where general illumination in stores,
warehouses, storerooms, offices and places of public assembly is
provided by means of fluorescent or HID lighting fixtures exclusively,
the maximum load shall not exceed 1680 watts per circuit on 120
volts and 4000 watts per circuit on 277 volts. Where recessed
fixtures are used, the maximum wattage may not exceed 1680 watts per
circuit on 120 volts. For self-serving laundries, not more than
one outlet per circuit of 20 ampere capacity wire will be permitted,
and each such outlet shall be provided with an individual grounding
type receptacle. "
