Res 040-90 2/20/1990s RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER AND POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR A REGIONAL DRUG ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE AND ENTER INTO MUTUAL AID AGREEMENTS FOR THIS PURPOSE WHEREAS, the problem of drugs in our community is evidenced by a significant increase in the number of persons arrested for drug violations and drug related crimes, and WHEREAS, the problem of drugs in our community cannot be effectively combatted without a unified effort directed at the source of drugs brought into the community, and WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Wichita Falls and other law enforcement agencies within the North Central Texas area desire to combat the problem of drugs through a joint effort through creation and utilization of a regional drug enforcement task force, and WHEREAS, federal funds are available for the creation of such regional drug task forces through the Criminal Justice Division, and WHEREAS, if 20 agencies within the region participate in such a task force, the maximum cash contribution for the 25% cash match requirement shall not exceed $7041, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: The City Manager and Police Department are herebygPY authorized to submit a one year grant request in the amount of $578, 281, and to enter into such mutual aid agreements as may be necessary to effect the organization of the task force.
