RESOLUTION ACCEPTING GRANT AWARD
FROM CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE
GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR SECOND YEAR FUNDING FOR
CAMPUS DRUG ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department is
currently providing a full-time officer for the purpose of
Drug Enforcement on and near school campuses in the
community, and
WHEREAS, the Governor's Office, Criminal Justice
Division has provided funds for the grant project, and
WHEREAS, a significant decrease in adult traffic on and
near school campuses has resulted from this project as well
as 215 suspects identified, 20 drug related arrests made,
and 6 drug programs presented in the schools, and
WHEREAS, an effective drug demand reduction program
necessitates detection and enforcement at all levels,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The Wichita Falls Police Department is hereby
authorized to accept the grant award to continue this grant
project in the amount of $32, 132, of which funds $24, 098
will be provided by the Criminal Justice Division of the
Governor's Office and $8, 034 will be provided by the City of
Wichita Falls, and the City Manager is authorized to sign
such grant award.
