RESOLUTION CREATING THE EASTSIDE REVITALIZATION COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, there is a desire to focus efforts on solving problems
and revitalizing the eastside area; and,
WHEREAS, the appointment of a committee with representation from
the business community and cross section of the city will assist in
this planning process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT;
SECTION 1. There is hereby created an Eastside Revitalization
Committee to be comprised of 11 members.
SECTION 2. The goals of the committee are as follows:
1) To foster partnerships among neighborhood residents, local
businesses, community organizations, institutions and the city to
improve their neighborhoods and business districts.
2) To create a sense of identity and pride.
3) To empower organized groups to take directed action on their
behalf.
4) To establish an implementation strategy which is attainable.
SECTION 3. The committee will identify a designated project area
of no less than ten (10) and no more than fifteen (15) contiguous
blocks.
SECTION 4.The committee will develop a self-help planning
program designed to focus efforts in solving problems within the
designated project area.
SECTION 5. The self-help planning program will be completed
within a time frame not to exceed twelve (12) months and will result in
the publication of an action plan which is within the neighborhood and
city's capacity to achieve.
