A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INITIATE A MEDICAL FIRST RESPONDER PROGRAM IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE LOCAL EMS PROVIDER, LIFELINE
EMS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City
of Wichita Falls to provide for basic life support in pre-
hospital care to its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Fire Department, operating from its nine
fire stations, is able to provide emergency service in a
prompt and responsive time; and,
WHEREAS, all members of the Fire Department will be
trained as emergency care attendants (ECA) ; and,
WHEREAS, this training is designed to provide immediate
basic life support to its patients in life threatening
situations; and,
WHEREAS, standard operating procedures are in place that
outline the rules and responsibilities of the involved
agencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby
authorized to begin a medical first responder program as soon
as practical at the completion of the Emergency Care Attendant
training program.
SECTION 2 . It is hereby officially found and determined
that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open
to the public as required by law.
