Res 110-92 7/7/1992RESOLUTION NO. //0-- U/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION AND BURNING OF THE MEMORIAL FLAME ON THE MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM GROUNDS ON CERTAIN DESIGNATED DATES; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to remember and commemorate all United States veterans of conflicts, both living and dead, who have so nobly served their country; and, WHEREAS, the Lone Star Gas Company has agreed to provide gas line service and the flame burning apparatus to the memorial erected by the American Legion Thomas Fowler Post No. 169 on the Memorial Auditorium grounds at no cost to the City of Wichita Falls; and, WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls deems it desirable to burn said flame honoring United States veterans of conflicts on the following designated holidays: (1) Memorial Day; ( 2) The Fourth of July; and ( 3) Veterans ' Day. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That all of the above preambles are found to be true and correct and are made a part of this resolution for all purposes. SECTION 2. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby directed to activate the memorial flame erected by the American Legion Thomas Fowler Post No. 169 on those above-designated holidays, thereby honoring and commemorating all United States veterans of conflicts. SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
