Ord 004-86 1/21/1986 ORDINANCE NO. 4-86 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-24 OF THE WICHITA FALLS CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR REGIS- TRATION OF APPRENTICE ELECTRICIANS, SETTING A REGISTRATION FEE FOR SUCH APPRENTICES , ESTABLISHING SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPRENTICES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION. WHEREAS , the Board of Electrical Examiners and the City of Wichita Falls Inspection Department have determined that super- vision and control standards for apprentice electricians are necessary for the City of Wichita Falls , and have recommended adoption of this ordinance . NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT: SECTION 1 . Section 14-24 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances is amended to read as follows : "Sec . 14-24 . Apprentices; trainees or helpers . (A) Registration Required : No person shall do work as an apprentice electrician within the City unless he is a citizen of the United States, has reached the age of eighteen (18) years, has registered with the City Electrical Inspector, and has obtained from such office an apprentice work permit . A fee of Ten Dollars ($10 .00) shall be charged for issuance of such permit. Such permit shall expire on the thirty-first (31st) day of December of each calendar year, and may be renewed by application to the Electrical Inspector and payment of a Ten Dollar ($10 .00) renewal fee . (B) Possession of Work Permit: Every apprentice electrician shall keep such permit in his possession and on his person at all times when engaged in work on any electrical installation project site. (C) Supervision: Apprentices shall be supervised by and in the presence of a Master Electrician or a Journeyman Electrician at all times, but no more than three apprentices may be supervised by one such electrician on a job site . Nothing shall justify an apprentice electrician in performing any phase of electrical installation unless a Master Electrician or a Journeyman Electrician is actually present during such installation. (D) Employment of Apprentice Electricians : Any person holding a valid electrical contractor' s registration under the provisions of this chapter may have apprentice electricians to assist in any electrical work. " SECTION 2. Anyone violating this ordinance shall be subject to the penalties provided in Sec. 14-77 of the Code of Ordinances .
