AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A TAX FREEZE FOR HISTORIC
PRESERVATION FOR THE ROUTE BUILDING AT 503 8TH
STREET, WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS
WHEREAS, the Route Building, located at 503 8th Street, is located
within the Depot Square Historic District: and,
WHEREAS, Ordinance 28-84 provides a tax freeze for ad valorem taxes
for substantial rehabilitation of a historic landmark; and,
WHEREAS, substantial rehabilitation is being proposed, the plans for
which have been approved by the Landmark Commission; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems that the structure is in need of tax
relief to encourage its preservation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The Route Building located at 503 8th Street, Wichita Falls, Texas, is
hereby granted a tax freeze at the value shown on the 1985 tax rolls, for a period
of 8 years, beginning on the first day of the first tax year, following veri-
fication by the Landmark Commission of the completed rehabilitation work.
