A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE
OF PROPERTY IN BLOCK 163, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE, CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, FOR DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSING FOR
THE ELDERLY; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls finds
that there is a need for housing for the elderly in the City of
Wichita Falls; and,
WHEREAS, it is also the desire of the City Council to
promote economic development in the downtown area; and,
WHEREAS, there is currently pending a Section 202 Grant
Application with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development; and,
WHEREAS, the construction of a housing development in Block
163, Original Townsite, will not only provide needed housing for
the elderly, but will also further economic development in the
downtown area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The preambles stated above are made a part of
this resolution.
SECTION 2 . The City Manager is authorized to execute a
lease agreement for a term of forty (40) years at the annual
rental of One ($1. 00) Dollar per year, and such lease shall
contain other good and sufficient terms to be later approved by
Council.
SECTION 3 . The authorization granted by this resolution is
made contingent upon the approval of Housing and Urban
Development funds to fund the project.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined
that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to
the public as required by law.
