AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 7630 & 7650(E) OF THE
ZONING ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTICE
FOR VARIANCE APPLICATIONS AND PRESCRIBING A FEE FOR
REQUIRED SIGNS
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission has recommended
amending Sections 7630 & 7650(E) of the Zoning Ordinance to
require additional public notice for variance applications and
prescribing a fee for required signs; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls,
Texas deems that the proposed amendment is in accordance with
the City' s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and advisable in the
public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 7630 of the Zoning Ordinance is hereby
amended to add the following:
"C. At least fifteen ( 15) days prior to the date of the
Zoning Board of Adjustment public hearing, the applicant or
his agent shall place a sign or signs on the property for
which the variance or administrative appeal has been
submitted. Such signs shall be placed on the property,
within ten ( 10) feet and parallel to any street right-of-way,
and shall be visible from such streets. These signs shall be
furnished by the city for a fee prescribed in this ordinance,
and the applicant shall use best effort to maintain posting
throughout the period of the public hearings.
D. Written notice shall be given to property owners of
real property lying within 200 feet of the property on which a
variance is being sought. Such notice shall be given at least
ten ( 10) days prior to the public hearing in accordance with
procedures prescribed in Section 7610. "
SECTION 2. Section 7650E of the Zoning Ordinance is
hereby amended to add the following:
"Variance signs: $5.00 per sign. "
