RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FEDERAL INTER-
MODAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT FUNDS TO CONSTRUCT A
TRAIL CONNECTING WEEKS PARK WITH HAMILTON, JAYCEE , AND KIWANIS
PARKS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS , it is desirable to continue development of trail
opportunities in Wichita Falls; and ,
WHEREAS , an opportunity exists to receive matching funding
through the federally funded Intermodal Surface Transportation
Efficiency Act for construction of a trail connecting Weeks Park
with Hamilton, Jaycee , and Kiwanis Parks; and,
WHEREAS , the proposed project is consistent with the Wichita
Falls Study Area Long-Range Transportation Plan and the Wichita
Falls Land Use Plan .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS , THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation providing a
twenty percent match or $250 ,000 . of the estimated $1 ,250 ,000 . to
construct a trail connecting Weeks Park with Hamilton , Jaycee ,
and Kiwanis Parks realizing a low estimate may result in an
increase in the amount of funding required for the local match;
authorization granted by this resolution is made contingent upon
the approval of Federal Transportation Funds for the remaining
eighty percent cost of the project; and it is hereby officially
found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution
was passed was open to the public as required by law.
