ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $2,000,000
FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO ACCOUNT
NUMBER LISTED BELOW FOR THE RIVER-
WALK PROJECT AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the City Council at its July, 1986, retreat determined the Riverwalk
Project to be the number one goal of the City Council ; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council determined at its November 11 , 1986, work session
to appropriate $2,000,000 from the General Fund Equity for the Riverwalk Project
for construction of a low water dam, construction of a drain in the Waterfall
Project and land acquisition for the Riverwalk; and,
WHEREAS, these costs were unforeseen when the 1986-87 budget was prepared,
and it is now in the best interest of the City to proceed with this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1 . There is hereby appropriated the sum of $2,000,000 out of the
General Fund Equity to be placed in the following account:
11-020-4599 $2,000,000.00
Section 2. A growing public necessity exists, and this is an emergency
expenditure to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions which could not, by
reasonable, diligent thought and attention, have been included in the 1986-87
budget. The fact that this amount will be due and that it is essential for the
immediate use of the City of Wichita Falls creates an emergency. Therefore, this
ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
