RESOLUTION TO APPROVE JOINT FUNDING AGREEMENT
WITH U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY FOR OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE OF STREAM FLOW AND RESERVOIR
CONTENT GAUGING STATIONS
WHEREAS, the U.S. Geological Survey operates and maintains a
series of stream flow and reservoir - content gauging stations on
the Little Wichita River Water Shed;
WHEREAS, the data from these stations are extremely
important to the City of Wichita Falls for the monitoring of
water flows into current reservoirs and for the planning of
future reservoirs;
WHEREAS, the City has historically shared with USGS in the
cost of operating and maintaining three of these stations, with
the fourth station being funded fully by the City,
WHEREAS, USGS now has agreed to restore federal funds to
cost share in the fourth station;
WHEREAS, the maintenance of three of the stations is a
requirement of the water -use permits from the State of Texas;
and,
WHEREAS, the Council has considered a proposed Joint - Funding
Agreement with the USGS for the 1994 -1995 budget year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The said Joint - Funding Agreement is hereby approved with the
City's share of the cost to be $12,080. The City Manager is
authorized to execute the agreement for the City.
