A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CURRENT MORATORIUM ON THE
ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR OFF-PREMISE ADVERTISING SIGNS TO
JANUARY 2, 1997; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Council granted a moratorium on July 2, 1996 for the acceptance of
applications and issuance of permits for the installation of off-premise advertising signs; and,
WHEREAS, the present 120 day moratorium will expire on October 30, 1996; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning Division staff is requesting additional time for further workshop sessions
with the Planning & Zoning Commission to scrutinize the current regulations and develop a
comprehensive sign ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The moratorium is hereby extended for the acceptance of applications and issuance of
permits to install off-premise advertising signs for a period beginning October 30, 1996 and terminating
on January 2, 1997.
SECTION 2. This extension will provide additional time for the development of regulations for the
appropriate control of off-premise signage.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution
was passed was open to the public as required by law.
