A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR SEVENTH
YEAR FUNDING OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG
ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task
Force Grant has proven to be an effective weapon in combating
drug offenses in the North Texas Area; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a
continuation of Drug Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 1996-
1997; and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department would like to
continue the grant project and submit a grant application in the
amount of Four Hundred Sixty Five Thousand, Four Hundred Sixty
Six ($465,466) Dollars, of which Twenty-five (25%) percent, or
One Hundred Sixteen Thousand, Three Hundred Sixty Six ($116, 366)
Dollars must be matching cash from participating entities; and;
WHEREAS, the matching cash requirement will be reduced by
Ninety Thousand ($90,000) Dollars through drug forfeiture monies
and by sixteen entities providing equal shares of the remaining
Twenty Six Thousand, Three Hundred Sixty Six ($26, 366) Dollars
cash requirement, and
WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls
for participating in the grant project in the grant would be One
Thousand, Six Hundred Forty Eight ($1, 648)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
make application for Seventh Year funding of the North Texas
Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant, and that sufficient
funds are available for the local matching share.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined
that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to
the public as required by law.
