RESOLUTION NO. 1 -c
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE CITY PARTICIPATION IN
THE NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP FOR SAFE WATER
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency and a group of
professional water associations have joined together to create a
voluntary program, the Partnership for Safe Water Program, to
help water systems throughout the nation to enhance their ability
to prevent entry of microbial contaminations into treated water,
thereby to improve the safety of drinking water;
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has modern, state-of-the-
art water purification plants that are producing high quality,
safe drinking water for the citizens of Wichita Falls and
surrounding areas;
WHEREAS, the City Council nonetheless recognizes the
importance of auditing our treatment processes to validate we are
doing all possible to ensure safe drinking water;
WHEREAS, the Partnership for Safe Water offers a vehicle for
self-evaluation that will demonstrate the Council ' s commitment to
provide efficient and effective treatment, particularly focusing
on the reduction of disease causing organisms that have caused
problems in other U. S. cities; and,
WHEREAS, this voluntary program requires the execution of a
Partnership Agreement .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Council of the City of Wichita Falls is committed
u 1 of drinking water for our citizens,to providing a safe s gPgsupply
and we believe participation in the National Partnership for Safe
Water Program will help to assure our water quality.The
voluntary Partnership Agreement between the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and the City of Wichita Falls is hereby
approved, and the City Manager is authorized to execute the
agreement for the City.
