Res 006-97 1/7/1997RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR EIGHTH YEAR FUNDING OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant has proven to be an effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas Area; and, WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of Drug Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 1997 -1998; and, WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department would like to continue the grant project and submit a grant application in the amount of $479,237.00 of which 25 %, or $119,809.00 must be matching cash from participating entities; and, WHEREAS, the matching funds requirement will be reduced by $6,625.00 through drug forfeiture monies and by sixteen (16) entities providing equal shares of the remaining $113,184.00 dollars cash requirement; and WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls for participating in the grant project would be $7,074.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for eighth year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant, and that sufficient funds are available for the local matching share. SECTION 2. That in the event of loss or misuse of these funds the City of Wichita Falls assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division Office of the Governor, in full. SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS DAY OF 1997. A.
