RESOLUTION TERMINATING A CONTRACT WITH MEMOREX
TELEX AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF COMPUTER
EQUIPMENT AND RELATED SOFTWARE THROUGH THE
STATE PURCHASING AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City entered into a contract with Memorex Telex for
networking services, and
WHEREAS, Memorex Telex has sold its U.S. operation under
Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, and
WHEREAS, Matco Technologies, Inc. purchased the contract, and
WHEREAS, Matco Technologies has notified the City that it does not
intend to assume responsibility for this contract, and
WHEREAS, the City does not wish to contract with Matco because it
specializes primarily in product sales and not integration services,
and
WHEREAS, the City can purchase the remaining components from the
State Purchasing Agreement and integrate the system internally at a
considerable savings to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The contract with Memorex Telex for networking services is hereby
terminated and authorization is granted to purchase the remaining
hardware and software elements of the system through the State
Purchasing Agreement.
