RESOLUTION TO APPROVE ENGINEERING CONTRACT
WITH CORLETT, PROBST & BOYD, INC. FOR AN
ENGINEERING STUDY ON THE LAKE ARROWHEAD RAW
WATER TRANSMISSION LINE
WHEREAS, the citizens of Wichita Falls are dependent on the
raw water transmission line from Lake Arrowhead to provide a
reliable source of water for drinking purposes;
WHEREAS, the 5411 pipe line has proven in recent years to be
unreliable due to several major leaks;
WHEREAS, Staff advises Council the leaks are the result of
certain technical characteristics of the existing pipe line, and
the pipe line will continue to be unreliable in the future,
probably with increasing occurrence of leaks;
WHEREAS, Staff believes it is necessary to conduct an
engineering study to determine and cost the options for permanent
repairs and/or replacement of part or all of the water line to
ensure a reliable supply of raw water to our treatment plants;
and,
WHEREAS, the Council has examined a proposed contract with
the engineering firm of Corlett, Probst & Boyd, Inc. to conduct
the engineering study and to provide options to the City that
will allow implementation of a planned program to repair/replace
the raw water transmission line.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The contract with Corlett, Probst & Boyd, Inc. for the cited
purposes is hereby approved in the amount of $37,500, and the
City Manager is authorized to execute the contract for the City.
