A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
ASSISTANCE UNDER DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WEED AND SEED
GRANT PROGRAM AND TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY CONTRACTS
INCLUDED IN THE APPLICATION TO OPERATE THIS PROGRAM;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED
BY LAW.
WHEREAS, due to a recognized need for financial assistance to improve the quality of life in target
neighborhoods through "Weed and Seed" efforts, PEOPLE - Wichita Falls' Weed and Seed, a non -profit
agency, has requested the City of Wichita Falls to join them in an application to the Department of Justice;
and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, acting as the administering agency, is required to enter into a
contract with the Department of Justice once the application is approved; and,
WHEREAS, the City will enter into a subrecipient agreement with PEOPLE - Wichita Falls' Weed
and Seed to conduct the activities described in the application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to apply to the Department of Justice for a one year
project involving $125,000 in financial assistance.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute a contract with the Department of Justice.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is authorized to execute a subrecipient agreement with the non-
profit agency for the day -to -day operation of the program.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution
was passed was open to the public as required by law.
