RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION
HELD IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS ON MAY 3,
1997.
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Wichita Falls, held in the Memorial Auditorium Building
on the 6th day of May, 1997, there came on to be considered the
returns of the General Election held on the 3rd day of May,
1997; and,
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said
election, it was found to be duly and legally held in all
respects, and that 2,318 voters voted in said election, and
that votes were cast as follows:
FOR COUNCILOR AT LARGE:
William C. Young received 420 votes.
Claude E. Greer
J. Don Johnston
George Witherspoon
FOR COUNCILOR, DISTRICT 1
Michael L. Neeley
Dan A. Shine
FOR COUNCILOR, DISTRICT 2:
James Esther, Jr.
Angus Thompson
received 236 votes.
received 1,271 votes.
received 265 votes.
received 200 votes.
received 470 votes.
received 176 votes.
received. 210 votes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 2. Said election was in all respects legally held
in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the
Charter and ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls; that
J1 Don Johnston was duly and legally elected Councilor At
Large; Dan A. Shine was duly and legally elected Councilor
District 1; and Angus Thompson was duly and legally elected
Councilor District 2.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined
that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to
the public as required by law.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 6'h day of May, 1997.
