A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS ACCEPTING
THE PROPOSAL FROM SOUTHWESTERN BELL FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW
COMPUTER NETWORK IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SOUTHWESTERN BELL FOR THE WIRING,
CONNECTIVITY, AND INSTALLATION OF THE NEW COMPUTER NETWORK; AND,
AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF SEIZED FUNDS TO PAY A PORTION OF THE
CONTRACT COST.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received a Grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance
for $203,512 for the installation of a new computer network system in the police department, and
WHEREAS, consultants hired by the city and city staff have reviewed and evaluated all Proposals
for this very necessary project in the police department and have recommended that Southwestern Bell be
awarded the contract for the project; and,
WHEREAS, the total cost of the new computer network infrastructure project will cost
approximately $256,331.58, and,
WHEREAS, there is sufficient funds in the seized money account to pay the portion of the project
that exceeds the BJA grant money;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
That the Proposal from Southwestern Bell for the Wiring and Connectivity Network System at the
police department be accepted; that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with
Southwestern Bell; and authorizing the expenditure of seized funds to complete the project.
