Res 132-97 9/2/1997RESOLUTION NO. 123 a --c-7 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR $9,897.00 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls started a Hazardous Materials Response Team in 1984; and WHEREAS, this Hazardous Materials Team has responded to approximately 541 incidents over the last 3 years and is serving an extended population of approximately 156,800 people; and, WHEREAS, the Fire Department budget annually consists of funds used to support the Hazardous- Materials team and the 1997 -1998 budget includes $30,000 to purchase equipment for this purpose, and WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Hazardous Materials Team is in need of two Industrial Scientific TMX412 Multi -Gas Monitors with accessories and additional sensors and one AIM -4650 Series Gas Detector to better serve our citizens and the surrounding communities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: That the City Manager be authorized to apply for grant funding from the Division of Emergency Management to purchase detection equipment for the Wichita Falls Hazardous Materials Response Team.
