RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A
GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS
INFRASTRUCTURE FUND BOARD (TIF) FOR BASE -LEVEL INTERNET
CONNECTION AT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, the annual circulation for the Kemp Public Library for the period of
October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1997 was 218,570, and
WHEREAS, at this time the library has a single dial -up Internet connection for staff
use only, and
WHEREAS, the library has been unable to provide Internet access to the public,
and
WHEREAS, we have been notified that the Telecommunications Infrastructure
Fund Board (TIF) is making grants available to provide a base -level Internet connection for
medium -sized and large public libraries with a circulation of more than 100,000 that
currently have no or limited Internet connectivity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the
Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board for base -level Internet connection at the
public library.
