Res 007-98 1/6/1998RESOLUTION NO. 2-V A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING MR. RALPH HARVEY, JR. AS THE HISTORIAN OF RECORD FOR THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Harvey, Jr. has been around to see a lot of Wichita Falls history since he moved here with his family in 1913. He married a hometown girl, Juanita Legge, and they recently celebrated their 601h wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to recognize Ralph Harvey, Jr. and the vast historical knowledge of Wichita Falls which he possesses. In addition to the length of his residency in our community, he has served approximately 25 years as a member and past chairman of the Wichita County Historical Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the designation of Ralph Harvey, Jr. as the Historian of Record for the City of Wichita Falls is an important step in recognizing the significance of our city's history and, therefore, our future. In Ralph Harvey's words, "those who do not choose to observe history are condemned to repeat all of its misfortunes." NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Mr. Ralph Harvey Jr. shall be known as the Historian of Record for the City of Wichita Falls. SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
