A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR NINTH YEAR FUNDING
OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED
BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force grant has proven
to be an effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas area; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of Drug
Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 1998 -1999; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department would like to continue the grant
project and submit a grant application in the amount of Four Hundred Fifty Eight Thousand One
Hundred and Eight ($458,108) Dollars, of which 25 %, or One Hundred Fourteen Thousand Five
Hundred Twenty Eight ($114,528) Dollars must be matching funds from participating entities or
drug forfeiture monies; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, Texas will pledge the matching requirement not to
exceed One Hundred Fourteen Thousand Five Hundred Twenty -Eight ($114,528) Dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for ninth year
funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant, and that sufficient
funds are available for the local matching share.
Section 2. That in the event of loss or misuse of these funds, the City of Wichita Falls
assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division Office of the Governor, in
full.
Section 3. It is hereby official found and determined that the meeting at which this
resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
