RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR FY
1998 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT; DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Omnibus Fiscal Year (FY) 1998 Appropriations Act authorizes
the Bureau of Justice Assistance to make funds available to units of local government
under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program for the purposes of reducing
crime and improving public safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is eligible to receive a total grant award of
$264,160.00 of which $237,744.00 will be federal funds and $26,416.00 (10 %) will be
cash match; and
WHEREAS, this grant money will go towards overtime, equipment, and civilian
personnel to aid the police department in its law enforcement efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to apply for the FY 1998 Local
Law Enforcement Block Grant.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 18th day of August, 1998.
