RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR TENTH
YEAR FUNDING OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL DRUG
ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force grant has
proven to be an effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas area;
and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of
Drug Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 1999 - 2000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department would like to continue
the grant project and submit a grant application in the amount of Four Hundred Ninety
Six Thousand Seventy Four ($496,074) Dollars, of which 25 %, or One Hundred Twenty
Four Thousand Eighteen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($124,018.50) must be matching funds
from participating entities or drug forfeiture monies; and
WHEREAS, the matching funds requirement will be met by sixteen (16) entities
providing equal shares of the One Hundred Twenty Four Thousand Eighteen Dollars
and Fifty Cents ($124,018.50); and,
WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, for
participating in the grant project would be Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty One
($7,751) Dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for
tenth year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force Grant,
and that sufficient funds are available for the local matching share.
SECTION 2. That in the event of loss or misuse of these funds, the City of
Wichita Falls assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division
Office of the Governor, in full.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
