RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
ASSISTANCE UNDER DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WEED AND SEED
GRANT PROGRAM AND TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY
CONTRACTS INCLUDED IN THE APPLICATION; DETERMINING THAT
THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, there is a need for financial assistance to improve the quality of life
in target neighborhoods through a "Weed and Seed" program administered by the
Department of Justice; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, acting as the administering agency, is
required to enter into a contract with the Department of Justice once the application is
approved; and
WHEREAS, the City may enter into a subrecipient agreement to conduct the
activities described in the application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to apply to the Department of
Justice for a one year project involving a minimum of $175,000 and a maximum of
$225,000 in financial assistance.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute a contract with the
Department of Justice.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is authorized to execute a subrecipient
agreement with a non - profit agency for the day -to -day operation of the program.
SECTION A. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
