RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
ELEVENTH YEAR FUNDING OF THE NORTH TEXAS REGIONAL
DRUG ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force grant has
proven to be an effective weapon in combating drug offenses in the North Texas area;
and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has provided funds for a continuation of
Drug Enforcement Grants for the fiscal year 2000 — 2001; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Police Department would like to continue
the grant project and submit a grant application in the amount of Five Hundred Forty -
One Thousand Six Hundred Forty -Six ($541,646) Dollars, of which, 25 %, or One
Hundred Thirty -Five Thousand Four Hundred Eleven Dollars and Fifty Cents
($135,411.50) must be matching funds from participating entities or drug forfeiture
monies; and,
WHEREAS, the matching funds requirement will be met by sixteen (16) entities
providing equal shares of the One Hundred Thirty -five Thousand Four Hundred Eleven
Dollars and Fifty Cents ($135,411.50); and,
WHEREAS, the applicable share for the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, for
participating in the grant project would be Eight Thousand Four Hundred Sixty —Three
($8,463) Dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make application for
eleventh -year funding of the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force
Grant, and sufficient funds are available for the local matching share.
SECTION 2. In the event of loss or misuse of these funds, the City of Wichita
Falls assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division Office of the
Governor, in full.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
