ORDINANCE NO. 21-2014
Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents
necessary to apply for and accept up to $7.5 Million in Federal
Aviation Administration grants for the construction of Phase III
terminal area facilities at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport and
appropriating said Funds to the FAA Airport Improvement Grant 2014
Fund
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has assumed responsibility from Sheppard
Air Force Base in its lease agreement for the repair and maintenance of leased property
at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport;
WHEREAS, the City has identified the need for the construction of a new
commercial passenger terminal to better serve the traveling public;
WHEREAS, possible funding for the Phase III commercial aircraft apron,
passenger boarding bridges, and existing terminal building demolition may be available
from the Federal Aviation Administration;
WHEREAS, the City desires to apply for up to $7.5 million from the Federal
Aviation Administration for assistance to begin Phase III of this project; and
WHEREAS, the City will pay 10% in local match requirements, up to an amount
of $833,333, using bond proceeds, passenger facility charge revenue, and airport
operating income to meet this obligation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary to
pursue, apply for, and accept the aforementioned Federal Aviation Administration grant
for the construction of Phase III Terminal Area Facilities at Wichita Falls Municipal
Airport, and said funds are hereby appropriated to the FAA Airport Improvement Project
Grant 2014 Fund.
