ORDINANCE WAIVING SECTION 22-1 (A) (9) OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES TO PERMIT THE POSTING OF ADVERTISEMENT SIGNS AT
THE GRAND SLAM TENNIS TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD ON
SEPTEMBER 21-25 IN HAMILTON PARK AND WEEKS PARK
TENNIS CENTERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, Parks and Rec-
reation Department will host the Grand Slam Tennis Tourn-
ament to be held on September 21-25 in Hamilton Park and
Weeks Park Tennis Centers; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to permit commercial co-
sponsors of the event to post advertising signs; and
WHEREAS, any such signs posted will be of an accept-
able aesthetic appearance.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances
involved in this request are exceptional , and
Section 22-1 (a) (9) of the Code of Ordinances, which pro-
hibits signs in parks, should be waived .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS THAT
SECTION 22-1 (a) (9) of the Code of Ordinances is hereby
waived to permit the posting of advertisement signs in
Hamilton Park and Weeks Park Tennis Centers on
September 21-25, 1988 for the City sponsored Grand Slam
Tennis Tournament .
