ORDINANCE WAIVING SECTIONS 22-1(a) ( 8) AND
22-1(a) ( 9) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ALLOW
THE SALE OF FOOD AND SOFT DRINKS AND THE
POSTING OF ADVERTISING DEVICES AT HAMILTON
PARK TENNIS CENTER FOR A TENNIS TOURNAMENT TO
BENEFIT DRUG FREE NORTH TEXAS, INC. , ON APRIL
21, 22 AND 23 , 1989.
WHEREAS, Drug Free North Texas, Inc. , is a non-profit
corporation with the primary purpose of curtailing drug abuse in
the Wichita Falls community; and,
WHEREAS, said organization desires to hold a tennis
tournament at the Hamilton Park Tennis Center on April 21, 22 and
23 , 1989, with the proceeds from such event going to benefit
their efforts at reducing drug abuse; and,
WHEREAS, for such event, Drug Free North Texas, Inc. , has
requested the following waivers:
a) Waiver of Section 22-1(a) ( 8) to allow the sale of food
and soft drinks at such event;
b) Waiver of Resolution 2509 as amended, to allow retainage
by Drug Free North Texas, Inc. , of all proceeds from concession
sales;
c) Waiver of Section 22-1(a) ( 9) to allow the posting of
advertising devices at the tennis center by an anticipated
corporate co-sponsor; and,
d) Waiver of Resolution No. 183-82, to set aside the $2.00
per person per tournament fee; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances
involved in this request are exceptional, and some of such
requested waivers should be granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Sections 22-1(a) ( 8) and 22-1(a) ( 9) of the Code of Ordinances
are hereby waived for the tennis tournament sponsored by Drug
Free North Texas, Inc. , to be held April 21, 23 , and 23, 1989, at
Hamilton Park Tennis Center.
