ORDINANCE NO. 17-89
ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO JOIN
WITH SELECTED TEXAS CITIES ON SEEKING
PASSAGE OF A BILL ON INDIGENT HEALTH CARE
AND APPROPRIATING FROM EQUITY $20, 000.
WHEREAS, several Texas cities, who jointly own hospitals
with counties, are seeking an amendment to Article 4438f, Revised
Civil Statutes, the Indigent Health Care and Treatment Act, to
remove these jointly owned hospitals from the provisions of such
Act; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed amendment would remove Wichita General
Hospital from the provisions of such Act, and it is deemed to be
in the interest of the citizens and taxpayers of the City that
such Act be so amended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Wichita Falls
supports the adoption by the Legislature of Senate Bill 522 and
House Bill 1106, which are identical bills which would so amend
the Act as stated above.
SECTION 2 . There is hereby appropriated the sum of $20,000
from General Fund Equity to Account Number 11-091-4542 for the
purpose of joining with such other cities in hiring a public
relations firm to work toward the adoption of this amendment.
