ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-8 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES WHICH ARE HELD AT THE
WICHITA FALLS ACTIVITIES CENTER TO EXEMPT
GUN AND KNIFE SHOWS FROM COMPLETING GUN
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
WHEREAS, gun and knife shows are held at the Wichita Falls
Activities Center; and,
WHEREAS, Section 24-8 of the Code of Ordinances requires any
retailer who loans, sells or rents a pistol to fill out a form
with certain data concerning the purchaser, including
fingerprints of such purchaser; and
WHEREAS, the sponsors of gun and knife shows are of the
opinion that such an ordinance will be a prohibiting factor,
because exhibitors will not operate under this paperwork
requirement; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that gun and
knife shows are exceptional situations, and were not intended to
be covered by this ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 24-8 of the Code of Ordinances which pertains to the
sale of pistols is hereby amended to include section 24-8 (F) to
read as follows:
" (F) Sections 24-8 (C) , (D) , and (E) of this chapter shall
not apply to retailers of pistols while conducting business at
gun and knife shows held at the Wichita Falls Activities Center. "
