ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 24-8 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS IN
ORDER TO ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAW
PROHIBITION OF FIREARM REGISTRATION BY
CITIES.
WHEREAS, V.T.C.A. , Local Government Code §215. 001 prohibits
municipalities from adopting regulations relating to the
transfer, private ownership, keeping, transportation, licensing
or registration of firearms, ammunition or firearms supplies;
and,
WHEREAS, Section 24-8 of the Code of Ordinances which
required registration of retailed pistols, fails to comply with
V.T.C.A. Local Government Code §215. 001; and,
WHEREAS
the City Council desires to achieve compliance with

state law by repealing Section 24-8 of the Code of Ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 24-8 of the Code of Ordinances is hereby repealed in
its entirety.
