Ordinance making an appropriation to the Special Revenue Fund for
a Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition Grant in the amount of
$210,312 received from the Texas Department of State Health
Services and authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract
accepting said funds
WHEREAS, Wichita County has a 20% smoking rate, which is higher than the
State and National averages; and
WHEREAS, Wichita County has a high rate of poor health outcomes associated
with tobacco-related illness; and
WHEREAS the Health District and the Department of State Health Services
desire to enter into a contract for the Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition grant;
and
WHEREAS, approval of these funds could not have been anticipated prior to the
adoption of the 2013-2014 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
There is hereby appropriated in the Special Revenue Fund $210,312 for the
Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition Grant, and the City Manager is authorized to
enter into a contract with the Texas Department of State Health Services for the Wichita
Falls-Wichita County Health District accepting said funds.
