AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, CLOSING,
VACATING, AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF A NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY
LYING BETWEEN HENDERSON'S RESURVEY AND POWELL & GORMAN
SUBDIVISION OF BLOCK 230, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE, WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS; AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF THE PORTION OF THE ALLEY
TO THE FEE OWNER; FINDING AND DETERMINING THE MEETING THAT
THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE LAW
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received a request from
the Texas Conference Association of Seventh Day Adventist to close,
vacate, and abandon a portion of the north-south alley lying
between Henderson's Resurvey and Powell & Gorman Subdivision of
Block 230, Original Townsite, Wichita Falls, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in the public
interest to close, vacate, and abandon this portion of the alley;
and,
WHEREAS, the City has caused the portion of the alley to be
hereunder closed, vacated, and abandoned to be appraised for its
fair market value.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The hereunder described portion of the public alley
be and is hereby closed, vacated, and abandoned as a public alley:
BEGINNING at the northerly corner of Lot 1, Powell & Gorman
Subdivision of Block 230; Original Townsite, Wichita Falls,
Texas, said point being on the southerly right-of-way of 14th
Street;
THENCE, along the southerly right-of-way of 14th Street in a
northeasterly direction twenty-five (25) feet to a point for
corner, such point being on the northwest corner of Lot 16-A,
Henderson Subdivision of Block 230, Original Townsite, Wichita
Falls, Texas;
THENCE, along the southwesterly boundary of said Lot 16-A, in
a southeasterly direction, 166.1 feet for corner; said point
also being on the northern right-of-way of a twenty (20) ft.
wide east-west alley;
THENCE, in a southwesterly direction, along the northern
right-of-way of said east-west alley, twenty-five (25) feet to
a point for corner; said point also being the southeast corner
of Lot 1, Powell & Gorman Subdivision of Block 230, Original
Townsite;

THENCE in a northwesterly direction along the east lot line of
said Lot 1, Powell & Gorman Subdivision, 166.1 feet to the
place of beginning.
SECTION 2. That in consideration of the receipt of $2,203.75
the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a quitclaim deed to the
Texas Conference Association of Seventh Day Adventist for that
portion of the alley described in Section 1 of this ordinance.
SECTION 3 . It is hereby officially found and determined that
the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the
public as required by law.
