Ord 082-91 8/20/1991 ORDINANCE NO. ( - ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 25-87 TO REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE JIM KING COMMISSION ON AGING FROM FIFTEEN TO THIRTEEN MEMBERS AND QUORUM FROM NINE TO SEVEN WHEREAS, on April 7, 1987, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls passed an ordinance creating the Jim King Commission on Aging; and WHEREAS, the original structure of the commission consisted of fifteen members with nine (9) members constituting a quorum; and WHEREAS, the commission has had difficulty obtaining a quorum due to vacancies on the commission; and WHEREAS, applications for these vacancies have not been received; and WHEREAS, the commission voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council that the membership of the commission be reduced to thirteen (13) members and the number constituting a quorum be reduced to seven (7) ; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to accept these recommendations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: Sections 1 and 5 of Ordinance Number 25-87 are hereby amended in their entirety as follows: Section 1. Creation. There is hereby established a Commission on Aging, which shall address the needs, problems and positive options for the aging of the Wichita Falls community. The commission shall consist of thirteen members. Section 5. Organization of the Commission. The members of the commission shall elect a chairperson for a one (1) year term and such other officers as may be deemed necessary or desirable, who shall serve at the will of the commission. The chairperson shall have a vote equal to that of the other members of the commission. Seven (7) members of the commission shall constitute a quorum. The commission shall hold monthly meetings at least nine (9) months during a calendar year. The chairperson may call meetings of the commission, and meetings may be called by written notice postmarked ten (10) days in advance, and the commission at any meeting may fix and call a meeting on a future date. Minutes shall be kept of all meetings of the commission and shall be regularly sent to the City Council. All meetings shall be public.
