Ord 083-91 9/3/1991 ORDINANCE NO. (PS--1j AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES AT SECTION 2-98 TO PROVIDE FOR A NEW SUBSECTION ( 8) ESTABLISHING FARES AND CRITERIA; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; AND FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Administration, at Section 2-98 is hereby amended to provide for a new Subsection ( 8) so that such ordinance shall read as follows: "Sec. 2-98. Duties generally; bus fares. (a) The director of traffic shall be charged with the supervision of the department of traffic. He shall have supervision of the traffic engineering, parking meters and street lighting departments and the aviation department. (b) The director of traffic shall be charged with the supervision of the public transportation department, which department shall operate the bus transportation system. The following fares shall be charged by the public transportation department on such buses: (1) Adult fares shall be seventy-five cents ( $0. 75) . (2) Children' s fares [for children ages five ( 5) through eleven ( 11) years] shall be thirty-five cents ( $0.35) . ( 3 ) Student fares, when purchased in single lots which are good for twenty ( 20) rides, shall be thirty-five cents ( $0. 35) per ride. Such fares are limited to students attending school through high school level only. ( 4) The fares charged elderly and handicapped persons shall be thirty-five cents ( $0. 35) . "Elderly persons" shall mean all persons over sixty-five ( 65) years of age. "Handicapped persons" shall mean all persons with a physical or mental disorder who have been certified by a medical doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist as handicapped. . ( 5) There shall be a charge of twenty-five cents ($0. 25 ) each for all transfers. (6) Sheppard express fares shall be one dollar ( $1.00) . (7) Charter rates for the first three ( 3 ) hours of charter service will be twenty-five dollars ( $25. 00) per hour for a minimum of seventy-five dollars ( $75.00) ; such three-hour minimum will be charged once a charter bus is dispatched from the transit facility. No charge will be made if cancellation of a charter is made before one and one-half ( 12 ) hours prior to dispatch; if cancellation of a charter takes place within the one and one-half hour period prior to dispatch, a penalty charge of twenty-five dollars ( $25.00) will be assessed. Each consecutive hour of charter service subsequent to the third hour will be charged at the rate of seventeen and one-half dollars ( $17. 50) per hour on a prorated basis. The minimum charge will be assessed each time a charter vehicle is dispatched within a twenty-four hour period if service is not continuous. All charter charges begin at the time of departure from the transit facility and end at the time of return to the transit facility, unless the time of return falls within the three-hour minimum. (8) Subscription Service. A. Riders must be 65 years of age or handicapped. B. Minimum number of passengers per trip shall be fifteen (15) . C. Maximum number of passengers per trip shall be thirty ( 30) . D. Groups shall be limited to one ( 1) trip per week. E. Trip duration shall not exceed three and one-half ( 3-1 ) hours. F. Trips shall be scheduled at a rate of one ( 1) per day, Monday through Friday, from 9: 00 o'clock a.m. till noon. G. Rate for the round trip is two dollars ( $2.00) . " SECTION 2. It is the intention of the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, that the provisions of this ordinance shall become a part of the Code of Ordinances of the 71/ , `.;' . • ` City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and that sections of this ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention. SECTION 3 . It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this resolution is passed is open to the public as required by law and that public notice of the time, place, and purpose of said meeting was given as required.
