AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-36, SUBSECTION (B), OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS BY CHANGING SUBSECTION
(B) TO REQUIRE LICENSING OF ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS AND SETTING
FORTH PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH LICENSING_
WHEREAS, the city has determined that there is a need to change
the requirements for electrical contractors operating in the city; and ,
WHEREAS, such changes should not restrict such electrical
contractors from simultaneously being employed by or have other
business interests; and ,
WHEREAS, such changes should , however establish licensing
requirements for such electrical contractors in order to provide
accountability and control of such businesses ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
fE .QN (,8..) of Section 14-36 of the Code of Ordinance , of the City
of Wichita Falls is hereby amended to read as follows:
(B ) In addition to any license required above , any person , company ,
firm , partnership or corporation who shall engage in the business of
electrical contracting shall , prior to making such contracts or
subletting the same , obtain a license , herein referred to as Electrical
Contractor License . Such Electrical Contractor License shall be issued
by the Inspection Division , contingent upon compliance with the
applicable provisions of this code and the following requirements;
( 1 ) The business for which the license is issued shall be owned
by or have in its employment at least one licensed master electrician
and such master electrician shall be designated on the license
application as responsible for the daily supervision of all electrical
work of the business so licensed.
( 2 ) Such designated master electrician 's name , address &
telephone number shall be provided to the Inspection Division upon
application for the Electrical Contractor License .
( 3 ) Such master electrician shall make himself/herself available
during the normal working hours of the inspection division in order to
meet with the electrical inspector either at the job site or at the
inspector 's office regarding any electrical work performed by that
business . In any instance where such designated master electrician may
be unavailable , such as in cases of emergency , illness , or absence from
the city , the electrical inspector may allow the business to designate
an alternate master or journeyman electrician as the city contact
during such period of absence .
( 4 ) At any time the designated master electrician 's license is
suspended , revoked , or expires or such master electrician leaves the
employment of the business so licensed under this subsection , the
Electrical Contractor License shall become null & void until such
master electrician license has been re--instated or another master
electrician has been designated by the business .
