A ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS AMENDING SECTION 20-25 OF CHAPTER 20
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS, BY INCREASING THE PENALTY FOR THOSE PERSONS
MANIFESTING IN A PUBLIC PLACE FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ENGAGING IN PROSTITUTION; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls City Council is vitally
concerned over the plague of prostitution and its associated
criminal activity which is occurring in Wichita Falls; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the health and
safety concerns associated with the spread of disease
associated with this activity and its impact on the community
as a whole; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best
interest for the health, safety and welfare of the people of
Wichita Falls to enact this law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Wichita Falls be amended at Section 20-25, Chapter 20, to read
as follows:
"Section 20-25. Manifesting the Purpose of Engaging in
Prostitution.
(b) Any person convicted of violating this section shall
be punished by a fine not to exceed Two Thousand ($2 , 000. 00)
Dollars. "
SECTION 2 . It is hereby officially found and determined
that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open
to the public as required by law. ^
