Ordinance Authorizing The City Manager To Execute All Documents
Necessary To Apply For And Accept Up To $6 Million In Federal
Aviation Administration Grants For The Reconstruction Of Phase II Of
The Runway 17/35 Project At Wichita Falls Municipal Airport And
Appropriating Said Funds To The FAA Airport Improvement Grant 2011
Fund
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has assumed responsibility from Sheppard
Air Force in its lease agreement for the repair and maintenance of Runway 17/35 at
Wichita Falls Municipal Airport;
WHEREAS, the City has identified the need for the reconstruction of Runway
17/35 to better serve civilian operations at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport;
WHEREAS, possible funding for such project may be available from the Federal
Aviation Administration;
WHEREAS, the City will apply for up to $6 Million for assistance in completing
Phase II of this project from the Federal Aviation Administration; and
WHEREAS, the City will pay 5% for the cost of this project, up to an amount of
$315,790, using Passenger Facility Charges and operational revenues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary to
pursue, apply for, and accept the aforementioned Federal Aviation Administration grant
for the reconstruction of Phase II of the Runway 17/35 project at Wichita Falls Municipal
Airport; and said funds are hereby appropriated to the FAA Airport Improvement Project
Grant 2011 Fund.
