AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4z -4 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR TYPE III
AMBULANCES AS DESIGNATED BY FEDERAL STANDARDS
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Section 42 -4 of the
Code of Ordinances unnecessarily restricts the type of ambulance
required to operate in the city, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that Section 42 -4 of the
Code of Ordinances be amended to provide appropriate standards
related to the purchase of ambulances and to update the dates
given to serve as federal standards.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. Section 4, -4, subsections (a) and (b) are hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 412 -4. Ambulance equipment.
(a) All vehicles used for the purpose of providing
ambulance service shall be maintained to meet or exceed the most
recent standards as set out in KKK- 1822B, dated November 1994, or
as superseded or amended, GSA Federal Specifications- - Star -of-
Life Ambulance, to adequately transport ill, sick or injured
persons in comfort and safety, and shall be maintained in clean,
sanitary and in first -class mechanical condition at all times.
(b) All new or replacement ambulances shall be at minimum
Type I, Class I ambulances as specified in the most recent
standards as set out in KKK- 1822B, dated November 1994, or as
superseded or amended, GSA Federal Specifications -- Star -of -Life
Ambulance and designed, constructed and maintained to meet or
exceed these standards."
