AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE KEMP WHOLESALE GROCERY
(CURRENTLY BIG C APPLIANCE) LOCATED AT 500 EIGHTH ST., LOT 3,
4, 5, 6, AND 7, BLOCK 162, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE, AS A LOCAL
LANDMARK; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Landmark Commission has recommended that the Kemp Wholesale Grocery
(currently Big C Appliance) located at 500 Eighth St., Wichita Falls Texas, be designated as a local
landmark and,
WHEREAS, the Landmark Commission of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas has deemed that this
property is especially worthy of protection and preservation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 2- 160.7.7, Code of Ordinances, Wichita Falls, Texas is hereby amended to add
the following:
"(15) The Kemp Wholesale Grocery (currently Big C Appliance) at 500 Eighth St., Wichita Falls,
Texas is hereby designated as a Wichita Falls Landmark."
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance
was passed was open to the public as required by law.
