ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION
FROM THE WATER AND SEWER FUND TO THE
1996 -97 BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PURCHASING LAND IN THE VICINITY OF
THE CYPRESS WATER TREATMENT PLANT
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has a need for land
adjacent to the Cypress Street Water Treatment Plant for future
expansion and for future regulatory requirements;
WHEREAS, the value of the land was appraised and we entered
negotiations with the land owner for the purchase;
WHEREAS, an update of the original appraisal was performed
in November, 1996 and was the basis of a final offer of $350,000
to the land owner, an amount acceptable to the owner;
WHEREAS, the Staff encumbered $231,132 of the $325,000
available in the 1995 -96 Budget, and the encumbered amount is
available for use in 1996 -97 for the purchase;
WHEREAS, there needs to be an appropriation from the Water
and Sewer Fund of $118,868, the difference between the encumbered
amount of $231,132 and the offered amount of $350,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
There is hereby appropriated from the Water and Sewer Fund
to the 1996 -97 Budget Account No. 81- 706 -5110 an amount of
$118,868 to be used in conjunction with $231,132 available in
encumbered funds for the purchase of two tracts of land adjacent
to the Cypress Street Water Treatment Plant.
