ORDINANCE NO.
ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A
TEXAS TOBACCO COMPLIANCE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000
AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND
FOR THIS GRANT MONEY; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received a Texas Tobacco Compliance
Grant in the amount of $5,000; and
WHEREAS, this grant money will go towards expenses involved in a Statewide
Tobacco Education and Prevention (STEP) program; and
WHEREAS, the STEP Program will be directed towards both education and
onsite compliance on the sale of tobacco products; with the goal to reduce the amount
of tobacco products that are made available to the youth in our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept the Texas Tobacco
Compliance Grant.
SECTION 2. $5,000.00 is hereby appropriated in Fund 294, Budget Unit 3235 for
use by the Police Department.
SECTION 3 It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
