ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A
COPS MORE '98 GRANT AND TO APPROPRIATE $142,139 IN THE
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND OF THE CITY; DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO
THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a COPS MORE '98 Grant from the
Department of Justice in the amount of $142,139.00, of which $106,604.00 is federal
funds and $35,534.00 (25 %) is cash match which will come from Police Department
forfeited funds; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase laptop computers and software
to interface with the Department's records system; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that this grant will save man hours in report writing
and will allow deployment of personnel into community policing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept the COPS MORE '98
Grant in the amount of $142,139.00 and such funds shall be appropriated into the
Special Revenue Fund of the City.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this Ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
